1.Overview

At 8udget, we respect your right to control your personal data. This guide explains how you can delete your account and associated data from our service.

You have two options for data removal:

  • Delete Data Only - Remove all your financial data while keeping your account active
  • Delete Account and Data - Permanently remove your account and all associated data

2.Self-Service Account Deletion

You can delete your account or data directly through our application by following these steps:

Step 1: Log into Your Account

  • Visit 8udget.my and sign in with your credentials
  • Ensure you're using the same email address associated with your account

Step 2: Navigate to Settings

  • Once logged in, go to your account settings
  • Look for the "Account Management" or "Data Management" section

Step 3: Choose Your Deletion Option

At the bottom of the settings page, you'll find two options:

Option A: Delete Data Only

  • This removes all your financial data, transactions, budgets, and goals
  • Your account remains active and you can start fresh
  • Your login credentials and basic profile information are preserved

Option B: Delete Account and Data

  • This permanently removes your entire account
  • All data associated with your account will be deleted
  • You will need to create a new account if you wish to use our service again

Step 4: Confirm Your Request

  • You will be asked to confirm your deletion request
  • This action cannot be undone, so please make sure this is what you want
  • Your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of confirmation

3.Email Request for Account Deletion

If you prefer to request account deletion via email or cannot access your account, you can contact us directly:

Requirements for Email Requests

  • Use Your Registered Email: You must send the request from the same email address you used to register your 8udget account
  • Subject Line: Use "Account Deletion Request" or "Data Deletion Request"
  • Include Required Information:
    • The email address associated with your account
    • Specify whether you want to delete data only or your entire account
    • Reason for deletion (optional but helpful)

Processing Timeline

  • We will acknowledge your request within 2-3 business days
  • Account/data deletion will be completed within 30 days
  • You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion is complete

4.What Happens After Deletion

Data Only Deletion

  • All financial data, transactions, budgets, and goals are permanently removed
  • Your account remains active with basic profile information
  • You can immediately start using the service again with a clean slate
  • Login credentials remain unchanged

Full Account Deletion

  • Your account is permanently deactivated
  • All personal information and financial data are deleted
  • You will no longer be able to log in with your current credentials
  • All subscriptions and payments are cancelled
  • You will need to create a new account to use our service again

What We Keep (Legal Requirements)

Even after deletion, we may retain certain information as required by law:

  • Basic transaction records for tax and legal compliance (anonymized where possible)
  • Records necessary for fraud prevention and security
  • Information required for dispute resolution

This retained information is anonymized and cannot be linked back to your identity.

5.Data Recovery

Important Notice

Once your data or account is deleted, the process cannot be reversed. We strongly recommend:

  • Exporting any important financial data before deletion
  • Taking screenshots of reports you might need for tax purposes
  • Downloading any documents or receipts you've uploaded

No Recovery After 30 Days

After the 30-day deletion period:

  • We cannot recover your deleted data
  • No backups of your information will exist
  • You would need to start completely fresh if you decide to return

Before You Delete

Consider these alternatives:

  • Data Export: Download your data for personal records before deletion
  • Contact Support: Discuss your concerns - we may be able to help resolve issues without deletion
